what we do
debt riot is a community-funded and organized debt forgiveness and advocacy organization. we exist to smash the scam industry that is predatory lending and its impact on the day-to-day lives of americans.

we buy and forgive portfolios of healthcare, education (like loans in collections, bursar bills), and “quality of life” debt (like school lunch debt, school fees, and parking tickets). there is no obligation to pay us a dime.

we provide access to educational resources, speakers, mentors, and coaching to help folks who are struggling find a better way out. we are NOT a debt consolidation company.

we organize demonstrations, attend local government meetings, organize community events, and provide resources to resist unlawful collections behaviors to take back power.

our goal is to find and forgive $1B of american debt by 2030. we anticipate this will cost approximately $30M USD.
